Welcome to Gould Medical Group - Gould Medical Group is a physician-owned and managed 220 member (as of 1/2008) multi-specialty medical group located in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Founded in 1947 in Modesto, California by Drs. Rusty and Vernon Maino, the Group was modeled after the Mayo Clinic where both served their residencies. The Group philosophy remains at the core of Gould’s success and rapid growth.

The Central Valley - World-renowned for its agricultural production – the Central Valley boasts many recreational opportunities, with close proximity to San Francisco, Sacramento (about 90 minutes away), Yosemite, Tahoe, Monterey and the Napa Valley (about 2-3 hrs by car). The two largest cities, Modesto and Stockton, offer excellent shopping, good public and private schools, fine dining, great weather, affordable housing, professional symphonies and theater facilities. Modesto opened its Gallo Performing arts Center in 2007.

Our Patient Mix - Gould patients are a reflection of the community and are covered by a variety of insurances – Medicare, HMOs, Blue Cross and Shield, PPOs and a small Medicaid population.

Group Governance - The Group is governed by a member elected board of directors and, unlike many medical groups, has no “buy in” requirement.

Affiliated with Sutter Gould Medical Foundation and Sutter Health - Gould Medical Group is affiliated with the Sutter Gould Medical Foundation. The Foundation runs the business side of the practice, freeing the physician for the full-time practice of medicine. The Group appoints 3 members to the Foundation boards, and staffs quality assurance, finance and other committees along with administrative members.
Sutter Gould is part of Sutter Health, one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit networks of community based health care providers. With over 26 hospitals (including hospitals in Modesto, Tracy and Los Banos) and over 3500 contracting physicians in northern California, Sutter Health enables us to focus on local needs and, at the same time, benefit from participating in a larger network.
