Sutter Health Donates $25,000 to Food Banks in San Joaquin County to Help the Hungry this Holiday Season

STOCKTON – Novemer 20, 2009 – Sutter Health, on behalf
of the employees of Sutter Tracy Community Hospital and
Sutter Gould Medical Foundation, is donating $10,000 to
Tracy Interfaith Ministries and $15,000 to the Emergency
Food Bank of San Joaquin to help feed the hungry in our
community this holiday season.

“As community caregivers, our employees have seen
firsthand how the national recession has affected so many
of our local families,” said David Thompson, CEO of
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. “Sutter Health makes this donation on behalf of our hardworking employees, and we hope it will make the holiday season a little brighter for those
in need,” adds Paul DeChant, MD, CEO of Sutter Gould
Medical Foundation.
Sutter Health has a long history of partnering with and supporting charitable programs and services. This donation – made on behalf of the employees Sutter Tracy Community Hospital and Sutter Gould Medical Foundation – further expands this commitment. As budgets are stretched thin during these difficult economic times, donations such as Sutter Health’s help community food banks extend their significant purchasing power.
Sutter Health, a family of doctors, not-for-profit hospitals and other health care service providers, is donating $255,000 to food banks across Northern California. A variety of local food banks will share the quarter-million-dollar donation to help put much-needed meals on the tables of thousands of families across the north state.
