Sutter Gould Medical Foundation Opens New Los Banos Care Center
October 1, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS BANOS –Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF) announced today that staff will begin seeing patients in the new Los Banos Care Center, at 502 Washington Avenue, beginning October 13, 2008. The care center marks the first time SGMF has entered the Los Banos health care field.
Dr. Pat Limpiado, Family Medicine
Pat Limpiado, M.D. a Gould Medical Group family medicine physician, will be the first doctor practicing at the care center. She has ties to the Los Banos community, having previously treated patients at Golden Valley Health Centers prior to joining Gould.
“I look forward to providing care to families in Los Banos and the surrounding area,” said Dr. Limpiado. “My staff and I plan to get to know our patients quite well and aim to provide outstanding service.”
The care center will also operate a lab draw station, so patients will be able to have lab work done in the convenience of one location.
Technology a part of the equation – including a paperless medical record
As with all of SGMF’s projects, the care center is equipped with new health technology features. EPIC, Sutter Gould’s electronic medical record system, allows Gould physicians to access a patient’s medical record instantly to review lab results, prior physician visits, and prescription histories. The computer resources at the physician’s fingertips also include PACS, a filmless picture archiving and communications system that allows Gould radiologists to share digital images and diagnoses instead of shipping X-ray film between locations.
Soon, Los Banos Care Center patients will also be able to access key parts of their own medical record through a confidential, secure system by signing up for MySutterOnline. Currently operational in SGMF’s care centers in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties, this service allows patients to view their health summary from the electronic health record, review physician instructions, receive laboratory and other test results, request prescription renewals and much more. SGMF will announce when MySutterOnline will be available in the Los Banos community at a later date.
Local Health Care Partnerships
“Our health plan arrangements allow Los Banos residents to select a Sutter Gould Medical Foundation physician and also remain in town to receive local hospital care at Memorial,” said James Conforti, chief executive officer for SGMF. “Being part of the Sutter Health family allows us to work together to provide the very best care for residents of the valley and accomplish our mission to enhance the health and well-being of people in the communities we serve.”
Dr. Limpiado will have privileges at Memorial Hospital Los Banos, and SGMF patients will be able to use Memorial’s services, including their state-of-the-art imaging services: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), computerized tomography (CT Scan), mammography, bone density testing, and ultrasonography.
Commitment to Northern California health care
The Los Banos Care Center is one part of the Sutter Health network’s multi-billion-dollar plan to improve, replace or build dozens of Northern California community-based outpatient care centers and hospitals over the next 10 years. In Modesto, for example, Sutter Gould is currently building a replacement clinic at their 600 Coffee Road site to open in 2009.
Sutter Gould Medical Foundation has care centers in Stockton, Lodi and Tracy in San Joaquin County, as well as Modesto and many communities throughout Stanislaus County. SGMF is part of Sutter Health, a family of not-for-profit hospitals and physician organizations that share resources and expertise to advance health care quality. Providing personalized care in more than 100 communities throughout Northern California, the Sutter Health network is a regional leader in cardiac care, cancer treatment, orthopedics, obstetrics, and newborn intensive care, and is a pioneer in advanced patient safety technology.
